Vega 1 is a utility-scale solar-plus-storage project under advanced development in Imperial County,California.
The project combines 141.3 MWdc of photovoltaic (PV) capacity with a 70 MWac battery energy storage system (BESS), designed to deliver clean, dispatchable power to the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) grid. Backed by a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Vega 1 is a fully permitted project with site control, interconnection rights, and eligibility for the 30% Investment Tax Credit (ITC). The project is being developed by Sunpin Energy and is targeting commercial operation by Q1 2026.

Power Purchase Agreement (PPA): 15-year agreement covering both energy and Renewable Energy Credits (RECs)
Grid Access: 230kV interconnection via Imperial Irrigation District's (IID) Vega Switching Station, with firm delivery to CAISO
Permits: Conditional Use Permit (CUP) and Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) approved; full site control secured
Equipment: Tier 1 PV modules, inverters, trackers, and battery suppliers
Tax Incentives: Qualifies for 30% ITC
